Hey All,
I have a VXII LS1 wagon. I am happy with the ride height and dont want to go any lower. Im not after looks.
I am after ideas on what springs i should put in. Im not happy with the way it handles and from what i beleive i have stock springs and shocks.
I dont want something that rides like a rock either.
I was thinking of just installing King spring low to the rear as im worried if i install standard heavy duty it will raise the height.
Has anyone installed the King spring low heavy dutys im wondering how stiff the car rides after these are installed
Any suggestions will be a good help
If you want better handling, you pretty much have to go lower. Staying your same ride height will do very little for handling.
Ride height and handling are inversely related. That's why a 4wd is bloody handy, but handles like ****. Ever tried to take a corner fast in one? They feel like they'll go flying.
Go superlow's. They're a nice balance between ride height and handling. You'll be able to fly around corners without scraping your nuts on anything and everything.
Super lows are not a option. I drive on construction sites all the time. From what i can tell the height the car sits at currently is lower than a executive so maybe the previous owner did something to it already.
I understand what you are saying about ride height. I own a 4x4 also and yes that feels like its going to tip over when cornering fast.
But there is a massive difference in heights between the 2. The problem with super lows is they are far to stiff also. Good for a track but melbourne roads are not smooth and if you try and corner hard with stiff tight suspension then your going to bounch around the corner.
Im thinking of going with low heavy dutys that way when i have the tools in the back it wont sag much and also give me handling without lowering too much.
Just wanted to know how stiff it will be.
have you though of getting those airbag inserts, they go inside the original springs and just increase the "hard-ness" (i know its not a word) of the springs, without making it lower/higher.
if it sits lower than an exec then you could have FE2 suspension
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
did the berlina come with fe2?
have a look at the plate rivited just above the passenger side head light just inside the bonnet. It will have what suspension it has (from factory)
Yeah first thing i did when i got the car was check the plate and it states standard suspension.
haha put some massive andventra suspension on it, hard as nails and not too high, till you pump up the shockers!!!

I would love to that. would solve getting in and out of construction sites.
But some how i think it would handle worse
With the correct shockers and springs the car will still handle very well. Look into getting a strut brace fitted. I have one and its an amazing diference in cornering. Also look into geting some heavier sway bars fitted. 30mm sway bars are great on the commodores specially the vt/vx. I have a price from pedders, strut brace and 30mm sway bars fitted $525. BUT, with my VT its hard to fit a strut brace so i had to pay for fitting. With your VX would will be able to simply screw the strut brace on.

the adventra's dont handle that badly to tell the truth, they have massive trust braces, and an acceptable amount of body roll. Plus with 235 tyres the hold the road like anything. The standard shocks and springs are hard, but if you put the air assisted shocks in they are like driving on bricks.
Next car i buy, Adventra, i miss ours, who sells a holden to buy a ford on gas!!!!.
But for 22k you can pick up an LS1 Adventra with 100,000kms on it
When i was lookign around for the wagon i test drove a couple of adventura's. i was not all that impressed with them. Didnt like the handling, didnt like the drive of the car.
I think i was expecting it to be a 4x4. but its not.
Each to there own i guess.
Think ill go with fitting a strut brace and some king spring lows with new shocks. If it sits too low i can always sell the springs and try standard kings springs.
nah, not a 4x4. mum had one for 45,000kms, loved it, once you got used to its heavy steering lol
