Im hoping someone can help.
I have a 99 VT II Calais. After it was purchased we had a heavy downpour. A few days later it smelt like arse! I removed the driver's floor mat and noticed a cut in the carpet running from under my brake pedal back to nearly my seat. I put my hand thru it and found a large puddle of water. The previous owner didn't let me in on this little problem.
Anyway I have since replaced the windscreen due to a crack, this still hasn't fixed the problem.
Can anyone shed some light on where the water would be coming in? Its a obviously a lot of water! I have tried the hose trick, to no avail...
Anything at all would be helpful..
Cheers all.
Mick.
Maybe the door seal leaking or a rubber grommet missing in the floor.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Where does the climate control drain to on a VT. If you have a blocked drain in a VN = puddle on floor.
Else can it get in via the fire wall someplace?

I had the same problem with my series one vt, It turned out to be the windscreen leaking, and yes it only happened in a heavy down poor, I only worked it out when driving the car down a hill one day in heavy rain and the water poored out from the headlining.
Inside the door trim water freely travels down the glass, into the door shell and out through drain holes.
Sometimes these drain holes get blocked or the plastic lining behind the trim can be incorrectly re-fit after a repair.
Both can lead to water flowing over the scuff trim and onto the carpet.
Better the Devil you know!
i had a leak behind the left hand side quarter panel. One of the seams had opened up which was letting water trickle inbehind the cars computer. Wasnt a happy chappy when they sed it had caused about a 5cm round circle of rust. All fixed up now though. Still gotta get new carpet though

Hey dude,
I would firstly look at the aircon drain, this when blocked and leaking onto the floor pan does smell like arse.
Smear some vasoline into the ends of the drain hose where it comes together like a little fanny, this will stop them sealing together again and blocking.
Were you driving during during the downpour, if so the water may be coming in where seam sealant/bog may have cracked or come away from the seams on the firwwll and inner gaurds area.
