hi, i have a problem with my vt that it wont start sometimes.
8 times out of ten it will start no worries but sometimes it wont start at all, it only happens after driving it for a little while then turn it off to run into a shop or something then come back out to take off, every other time it is fine.
this is my 1st v6 so i'm not really sure what the problem is but i'm sure its not the fuel pump cos i can always hear it prime when i turn the key to reds, but could it maybe be the coil pack or something like that? ive also gone over all the relays and they look fine but i dont know.
can someone please help, thanks.

Hey mate, I have had a few and it can be a couple of things...have you bridged your system to check the fault codes? It sounds a little like a crank angle sensor, or how is the condition of your key?
it musnt be cas cos it is fine while hot and driving plus i tipped some water on it today and made no differance at all

I have a similar problem (VTII Berlina). Crank angle sensor was replaced in the shop but wasn't the problem. No worries with the drive once started, just an intermittent starting problem. Shop had car for two weeks, they must of started it 100 times no problem. I picked the car up, have driven it twice for two out of two fails. So problem seems to appear after a period of driving. Usually I only drive 10 or 15 minutes. Say I drive to work, at end of the day get into car - won't start. Or, drive home from work, get in the car in the morning - won't start. Leave the car where it is, come back the next day and generally start no worries.
I have recently been told to disconnect the ABS computer when it happens to check if this is an issue - haven't had opportunity yet. Any further help greatly appreciated.

ok it must be cas cos i just got these codes:
46 Crank angle reference signal (engine will not start)
47 Crank angle reference signal (no signal)
would it be to do with the plug or should i change the cas?

ive got a similar problem with my VS. starts perfectly 90% of the time, but if ive been driving for a little while and then turn the car off for only a few minutes (say dropping a video back or something like that) when i try starting it again it cranks rediculously slowly...if its a really hot day it seems to make it even worse.
sometimes it will crank once slowly, then start cranking normally and kick over - other times it'll just continue to crank really slow, like its dieing and then start all of a sudden.
ive never had it not start - but its still annoying.
so far ive replaced everything i think could be the culprit and it still does it now and again - ive replaced the starter motor, alternator, battery, cas, and had my dfi module and wiring checked over passing with flying colours.
i ran out of things to check so i gave up trying to find out whats wrong with it, lol - there's no codes coming up for clues either.
almost all of the engine itself, all its sensors, injectors, iac, tps, and alot of the wiring is all brand new or in the case of the engine completely rebuilt within the last 2 years.
dont you just love those little gremlins...

thats how mine started off, will crank slowly then half a second pause then will crank normal but now it is getting worse and i dont know what it is but today it cut out all together while i was driving and couldnt start it for about 15 mins so im really guessing it is cas, i will go get one tomorrow along with new battery and oil pressure switch and will see how i go i guess, after that im just gonna have to keep trying bit by bit till i find out whats wrong

ok today i replaced the cas, oil pressure switch, and put in a new battery and it seems to be heaps better, i took it for about a 20min drive so it would get to proper running temp and there was no problems at all, tuened the car off and restarted it with no problem at all.
even the slow cranking start has gone too but we will see after a week of driving how it goes i guess
