Hey Guys !!
My car overheated yesterday![]()
I drive a 2000 holden Commodore VT S/W
When I had a look there is a little plastic thing on the
right of the engine that has 2 x pipes going into it
and 2 coming out. Also there is a tube/wire that runs
from the top of it back throught the firewall. That has
cracked and is leaking water.
Anyone know what that is ??
Thanks alot !!
I think you are referring to the heater tap. Is it attached to the car body and does it have 4 hoses connected to it?

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Yes it does.
Are they expensive ?
No, not really, somewhere between $20 and $30 dollars I'd say. Shop around at repco or Bursons etc.

Thanks Alot man
And nice car....
I still got the VT S/W but just put some 18" TSW's
on it yesterday with Potenza RE540s (alot of road noise)
Thanks. I had a VT wagon before this and it served me well for about 7 years with very few problems, heater tap being one of them. Good luck with it.

Are they hard to install ??
whats that little thing that attaches to the
top and runs through the fire wall ?
Easy to install, just undo the hoses and reconnect to the new tap. Remember where each hose goes. You will lose some coolant so it will need a top up and bleeding. The hose on top is a vacuum hose which enables the tap to be turned on and off.

You have done this before haha
Thanks alot
Can you just pull the vaccum hose off the top ?
Got it all off !! thanks
went out to find a new one and supercheap dont stock
them. And all the holden dealerships that sell parts
in Auckland, NZ are closed today![]()
Do you have Repco or some other places you can phone?

yea and that was a part of a crashed holden, so second hand
Alot more people have Holdens in AUS
Dude!!! I just did mine and i'm in Auckland - brand new their NZ55.00 from Repco... or NZ39.95 + shipping on trademe..
Also, stay away from the genuine Holden ones, they do crack easily... if i were you... i'd get rid of your second hand one and buy a new one...
I tried repco and they said there were none left in any Auckland stores and the only ones iI could see on Trade Me were from Aus so would have taken a while to be shipped accross...
I can be without a car !! haha
Also it was a long weekend so very few places were open so I just brought what I could to get it back on the road.
Thanks for the advise though I might replace it next week then ...
Yeah that is true none in Auckland... but Repco Manuakau couriered one up from Palmy North at no extra charge to me... overnight too... sweeet...
Don't despair if the tap leaks, disconnect the engine hoses from the tap and with a short piece of suitable pipe, join them together to by pass the heater.
The last new genuine part tap I purchased 2 years ago cost me $30.25 from Motor Traders, Adelaide.
