Twice now, about a fortnight apart, my VT V6 refused to start. First time, car was off for around 1.5 hours, car started and stalled (my fault, impatient), went to start it, nothing. Took key out, put key back in, went to start, nothing, not even cranking, radio and lights all seemed fine, got out, locked the car left it, got in nothong, 5 minutes later she starts.
Now, tonight, got home, took keys out of ignition to open the gate, got back in, nothing - not even cranking. Tried a few things, including the above. So then i had my mum steer while i tried to push the car up my drivway....didnt happen, i did get the car to move about 10cm or so....then she let it roll back about 15....So, then i went to start it, i felt the car jerk forward a bit, still didnt start, tired it again, it cranked for about 2-4 seconds(felt a bit sloppy) then started.
Car has had the battery replaced around 20000k's ago, new crank angle sensor about 30000k's ago
Holden did put this crap on the terminals that the nrma battery guy said does more damage than good (knowing holden, i tend to beleive the nrma guy).
Does anyone have an idea as to what it could be, all help is greatly appreciated?
That means immobilizer isn't turning off. Could be a flat battery in the key or faulty key head, or it could also be the key reader (check that the metal ring around the ignition is making good contact) or it could the BCM.
If presing unlock fixes then as mentioned earlier you likely have a key reader problem.
Try faulting it yourself. When the mode switch LED is flashing it means your engine wont start. Turn the key to ignition on and the light should go out.
Where the key metal pin contacts the steering column is whats called a key reader.
Later models have a solid ring type fitted for improved contact.
You can fit this type to yours as well.
