Default xu6-what should i do to her?

Hi Guys. Well i just bought myself a VX XU6 and just want some suggestions what i should do to it!

I am going to lower it a bit but not too sure what springs to put it. Dont want it to be touching the ground but want it lowered. Any ideas?

Exhaust? Can you get s/c 6's sounding gruntier than the n/a v6 or do they sound the same cause they are almost the same engine?

Ive been told you can get the supercharger making more of a whistling sound- how would you go about this?

How much is a pulley upgrade on the charger and is it worth it? Also a memcal upgrade?

Throw some suggestions at me- im in the mood for spending money on my car.

just a few to get you started

    basically
cai will get you a nice blower whine, DIY job - $30, YT $200~, FIT $300
pully upgrade is one of the best things you can do, you can to a cheap YT pully job for about $100~ iirc (return the tool), or YT snout for about $800~.

Forget about the suspension for now IMO. You need to spend money on the CAI and pulley down size 1st. With a clubby kit lowered suspension will get you touching down all the time but that been said it would look great slammed.

Just got some vids of mine the other day to capture the exhaust sound. It has 1 5/8 into 2.5 collector headers with opened cat pipes and a cheapo redback twin 2.5 cat back exhaust. The XU6 already has a fairly decent exhaust that doesn't really require improvement until alot more mods have been carried out. Post some pics of your car mate, VX XU6s look horny

Oh yeah, check out intense-racing.com , awesome stuff there

Have a read over those sites listed above before spending any money. That way you can develop a plan how how much power you want to make, and how much you want to spend.

Having said that, the pulley is the first thing, to do. The catch is you have to decide on what pulley to get, size wise. You can fairly safely put on what they call a 10 psi pulley with out other modifications. once you go higher you risk inducing knock. Once the engine management senses this it retards the performance. To get past this you can have the engine tuned or add an intercooler to be able to use the extra boost a smaller pulley gives you. My point being if you are really going to go for it, best to decide how far and make the pulley size decision based on this.

If you wanted a grunty v8 sound, then you should buy a v8 really. One of the great things about the v6 sc is that it does what it does very stealthly. but having said that I know where you are coming from, wanting a little bit more sound coming out of the thing.

Maybe a k&n filter to start, as you can hear the air rushing in just idling with one of those when you walk past the front of the car. I've also read taking of the engine cover which is designed to reduce the intake noise gives more supercharger whine.

Love the look of the xu6, congrats on a great buy!

Thanks for the reply mate. I will take off the cover today and see how it goes! With the power upgrade, basically im not going to go too overboard. Really, im just going to change the air intake and the pulley so ill choose a pulley that i won't need to do anything else to. Another forum has suggested that a 87mm stealth pulley would be perfect.

Might try and hunt down a K&N filter as well.

I will post pictures up soon mate

An 86 / 87 mm pulley will be the size best suited. A smaller pulley will only lose power until mods get to the point of cooler or cam and tune.

Full exhaust, rockers, intake, cooler plugs will benefit most from what is referred to as the 10psi pulley.

Have a look at the Lukey oil free high flow panel filter, I've had a K&N for ages and just went to the Lukey with similar performance. The advantage IMO is that the Lukey is oil free so that oil won't be coating the MAF elements and giving altered readings. $50 from Bursons
