    Default The Best Wagon's?

    Hey fellas,
Im a really keen windsurfer, that needs to upgrade his Toyota Corolla because it is too small and sh!t

So im about to break my commodore virginity... I have about $9,000 to spend.
I was thinking something like the Series 2 in VT - VX, with main features being
    • Traction Control
    • Cruise Control
    • Power Windows
    • Air Bags (Driver,Side,Passanger)

So if anyone could give me the heads up that would be AWESOME!

    Cant wait for the responses!

    Cheers Boys

PS: With the VT and beyond do i get features such as Distence Until Tank Empty, Fuel Consumption aka (10l/100km) ect etc?!

for about 9k ( if not less ) you could pick yourself up a VT Acclaim wagon with low k's and it would have all the stuff ( except maybe T/C ) you want.

The VT acclaim does have traction control, ABS and passenger airbag, but doesn't necessarily have cruise or power windows. Although the traction control is not very good in my opinion.

My last vehicle was a VT Acclaim wagon and the car almost stops moving when traction control cuts in, and that could be dangerous in some situations. For example, it's raining, you are waiting to turn right, there is finally a gap in the traffic and you take off carefully but lose traction and then your car just stops for a second in the intersection with cars coming toward you. I am an older guy and drive sensibly (most of the time) but in some situations the car will lose traction, which is fine but like I said, it can be dangerous if you are not careful.
However the traction control in my WH Caprice is completely different, if you lose traction it just backs off a bit, you can feel the accelerator pedal harden and it stops you from pressing it any further. It is very good.

My VT Acclaim had C/C but not power windows but I did install them. I could be wrong but I was told cruise was not standard.
With the VT Executive you do get distance till empty but not fuel consumption. You will need to get at least a Berlina for that.

with the options youre looking for, i think you'd be after a berlina. try carsales etc for a VT or VX berlina wagon, and see what the current asking prices are nowadays.

Belina and up for the level 3 dash (3 window display). The Belina has a good level of extras in them. Better resale value too when the base models are worth next to nothing - you can sell a belina for much more.

    Berlina for the win.

    Hey mate,

If i was you i would be looking at a VT onwards Berlina wagon. Ideally try and find one with 150-180 kms. I personally wouldn't buy anything with 200,000kms or more (just my preference)

To me (no pictures which is a pain) but i would be looking at something like...
Used HOLDEN COMMODORE Private Seller Cars For Sale - carsales.com.au

Another idea... Have you considered buying a repossessed car? Not sure where you are but in Vic we have a place called "Broadford Car Sales". Basically they get in damaged and recovered cars... And sell them quiet cheap. For example (Just so you know whats out there)

Holden Commodore EXECUTIVE VXII 2002 Rear Wheel Drive White, Station Wagon 3.8ltr Petrol AUTOMATIC, 174495kms, S/n 4324,minor scratches, finance repossession $7800.

Now i know its on an exec, but thats still a good price. You could probably get it for $7250cash. So yeah, might be worth keeping an eye out on the auctions etc.... I know it often means you dont know the history... but if your saving a few grand it might be worth it.

    Good luck

The dirty stuff would just be in the back wouldn't it? I'll never buy another car without power windows.

I think your limited to Acclaim or berlina for power windows, unless you find a dealer fitted exec.

It is possible (and fairly easy) to install power windows. So if you find the ideal car you want and its only missing power windows, its probably worth buying and upgrading it.

Expect to pay around $200 for parts, and upto $400 labour if you need someone else to do it.

i would recommend if you can that you get a VX S2 or better so that you wont have camber problems for the rear wheels especilly if you plan on hauling gear arround
