    Default weird thing happened!!!

    Hey guys

when i tried to start this morning, as soon as i turned the ignition key the car died. Everything went off. it would not start, the radio was dead, the trip computer was dead.....
then all i did was just open the bonnet and wiggled the negative batt terminal and it all came back?
do i need a new battery or something?
    cheers

sounds like the terminal was just loose? perhaps get a socket or spanner and tighten her up

Check for white acid build up around the terminals. I go alright with mechanical stuff and was embarassed one night when I called RACV for a flat battery and he just cleaned it to fix it. Those felt post covers and some VAS fixed it permanantly

    Yes, clean and tighten.
The starter motor has a high current draw.
A loose terminal will blacken with time due to the high resistance.
Eventually leads to this type scenario.

would this explain that some mornings when i turn the ignition it seems like its about to die and then fires up?
    Cheers

hey, ive been seeing your wagon around town when ive been on test drives at work, appeared to be your missus driving around bommo public,

as said clean the terminals, you can do this by removing the termials rub the battery post over with wet & dry, same with terminals on the leads, reconnect, with positive first, after that you can rub a little vaseline over the terminals to protect them

I hope you know your radio code, if it's the factory Eurovox.

That problem happened to me too, definitely loose battery terminal. As long as you don't cross the wires there shouldn't be a problem. Oh, and don't touch the body of the car when you're messing with the positive terminal. It could hurt both you and the car.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere
