Default VT without climate control: fan works, no hot air.

Common causes?? I don't want to take the dash out if I don't have to.

Before you ask, I've searched this for the past hour and found nothing productive. A million other heater and dash threads but none of them helped.

The heater tap is probably not opening.

ok we found all sorts of brown sh%t in the pipes from the heater tap and in the valve itself, so we took it all apart and flushed all the sh%t out. Put it all back together, the heater tap can actually open easily now (was stuck before)

HOWEVER there is no vacuum being supplied to the valve so it isn't opening or closing. It's staying right where it is. The car has had a full coolant flush so ALL piping is clean of muck.

Also found the thermostat is stuck open now so we're remedying that ASAP.

    Any suggestions??

when you turn the aircon on and turn the dial from hot to cold does it get cold?

Then does it get warmer when you turn it back to hot?

Does it constantly make a hissing noise when you turn the aircon on? I am told that's vacuum pipe problems. I haven't had mine fixed yet so not sure, but it makes sense considering the controls work by vacuum.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere

There is a white valve under the stereo, located neer a vacuum actuator.
It actually turns the heater tap on and off, as far as I am aware.
You might want to check to make sure that is ok, Ive heard from my local Holden dealer that it can cause this issue too.
I replaced mine a while ago... very cheep part. easily change from a $20

Also, the new thermostat came with an O-ring, do I need to use this? The thermostat that came out had no O-ring anywhere.. We have a new thermostat, housing and mystery O-ring
