Angry VX Series 2 Executive - Start Issue + Boot Button Issue!

Hey Guys....

I drive a 2002 Series 2 VX Executive...

1. Starting Issue - Most times the car will start with no problems...however sometimes the car will not start! When the car does not start, there is no red light flashing so the immobaliser must be disengaged. The car cranks over, but no fire. Banged the fuel pump underneath the car to try and get it to start, no luck there! Took out the starter relay and put it back in, cracked it over again, and again, and again, and again... eventually it would fire. Luckly I have not had to call NRMA yet! But this problem is giving me the headache. Any ideas?

2. Boot Issue - The button in my glovebox to open the boot, seems to work sometimes, but other times it doesnt... what causes this to happen? and how to fix it so it works all the time!

Any help is always apprecaited...

Have you checked your fault codes?

if you mean checking for fault codes using the hidden menu system when u start the car holding down the mode and up button.. there is nothing reading in the error message...just gives me -- for the code...

Nah. If you do a search you should find threads on getting the fault codes by bridging two terminals on the connector plug under your steering column.

I thought that was only for VN-VS ish, the bridging technique???

Does the starting problem happen with both keys? (Main and Spare?) My first thought was that possibly the battery in the remote is on its way out

Have not used the spare key much, but seems to start all time time with that key!

What about the boot issue? I still can use the boot key on the remote.. however the one in the car doesnt seem to work all the time?

do u have an alarm were you dont use the key to open the car
if so it might not be able to tell the bcm that your the owner of the car
if this is the case unlock the car using the alarm remote then hit the unlock button on the car... the button should work now (but only for a little while)

No alarm is a standard stock vx series 2 executive... i just put my spare key onto my keyring to use and leaving the one i have been using off somewhere safe... see what happens...with the spare key...

thinkin bout taking it to a place to get the fault codes read... unless someone knows how i can do it myself? its only a v6 ecotech engine...

Hi there. I've got a VX Executive Lumina S2 that is having the same starting problem as you have described. Have you been able to resolve this problem with your car?

I changed the key and everything seemed to be fine, until it was cranked over on monday night and sounded like it started then i took my hand off the key and didnt stay running...

will be looking into the fault codes... when i get a chance to get into a garage at home... cause its too wet atm..

car needs to also go in for a service in two weeks...
