Hi all,
Hoping someone can help.
My climate control starts blowing a nasty smelling smoke from the vents after a while with the aircon on, I don't use heater, always set on 20 degrees.
I don't think it is the heater core, there is no fluid loss, no wet patches in the footwells or close, and no condensation from steam inside the car.
I gave up finding the problem, switched off the climate control, and resorted to 4 window aircon.
However, now that it is cooling down a bit, (and still with the climate control firmly switched off) after 5 minutes of driving, the same smoke now comes from behind the dash, (not the vents), mostly up from behind and under the steering column. It has been happening for months now, so I don't think the car is about to catch fire, but I'm starting to think it needs fixing. I am worried it is affecting my thraot, I am constantly having a sore throat. I have rung quite a few mechanics / aircon people, all quote me a thousand bucks to have a look, due to the need to strip the whole dash.
Hoping someon in the know might have heard of this problem before.
Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem and I fixed it by lifting the front plenum chamber on the passenger side and put my fingers in to find the air flow flap/door .I pushed down and the flap/door opened .problem solved .Worth having a look.
Thanks mate, sorry for the stupid question, but what is the plenum chamber on the passenger side?![]()
The plenum is in between windscreen and bonnet . You may need to remove the wiper .
Thanks a lot!
I take it that the problem is now solved.
