    Default l67 via manual box

    Just a couple questions guys.
Well the motor in my vt v6 is starting to get a bit tired and instead of re-building it i thought about buying a l67 motor and throwing it in. Now, will my getrag 5spd bolt up to it and what would i do about the computer. Reprogram it ??? (dont know much about the electrical side of things)
Caus i thought they were only released in autos, or am i mistaken.
    Thanks Ben.

Yeh mines not the best hey
So the t56 will bolt up to it from a ls1. Will my pedal box need to be replaced aswell or just the flywheel, clutch etc. Yeh stumped bout the computer. Might need to go aftermarket.
Just was contemplating the idea. Will prob just go a raptor kit. Must admit very good bang 4 ur buck. Will most likely rebuild the old ecotec first.

Not to ressurect a dead thread....

I have a VX S S/C, wanting to convert to manual. Everyone keeps chucking info at me left right and centre that doesn't make a lot of sense, wanted someone to clarify.

I want to go for a T5 or T56 whichever comes easiest, most likely a T5.

I've been told that in order to convert to manual I need a different wiring loom. As I understand it, the Engine and Gearbox loom are part of eachother. 1st problem: the Supercharged engine would no doubt have extra wiring compared to it's N/A Cousin, yes? Also, the L67 didn't come in a manual option, is that right? So, there would be no loom in existence to cope with this conversion, is that a fair statement?

Next, I've been told I need to change the computer over to suit a manual. Ok, again, wouldn't this computer need the ignition mapping and whatnot of the L67? which again brings me to the 'no manual question' of this engine.

What I have in mind is to drop a T5 in with appropriate accessories, connect the wiring for the reverse light detent switch and forget about the rest of the auto wiring, and then have someone change the programming in the computer to tell it it's not auto anymore.

I know this sounds overly simplistic, but can someone verify that this is possible? Can I change the programming in the VX S/C Ecu to make it manual?

you can get the t5 to work behind the super 6. Basically, as you have said it, an auto ecu will still be able to cover the engine side of things. It just needs to be tuned so that knows there isnt an auto trans there anymore. True that the engine and trans are both operated by the ecu, but auto trans functions can be disabled.

My VS ecotec was converted to manual, and it still runs the auto ecu with a manual memcal. the manual memcal cancels out everything to do with auto trans errors. Then some simple wiring mods were done to get the speedo working. So it is doable.. everyone was telling me that i DEFINITELY needed manual ecu and loom.. not so..

I know that my example was that of a VS ecotec, but VT (you would suppose) wouldnt be much different!?

i'm sure someone else on here has definitely done it with a L67 and can help you further. Or else maybe post up on SC??

hope i have helped a little...
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!
