Default shift kit question

hey guys just another shift kit question.
How di u know whether a shift kit has been installed?
I was reading about the transgo shift kit that it allows the gears to be shifted down and hold at any RPM. Isn't that the case normally? i mean if i am driving and i shift down to 2 gear for an instance doesn't it do it anyway? and if i leave the lever on 2 doesn't it not change to 3 anyway???? I'm confused.....
What does the shift kit really do? i need an answer in simple english and not in technical jargon??????????????
also if it is worth the change where is the best place to get it done? (auto shop) value for money and trustworthy place?
cheers guys

In your gearbox, if you put it into 1st or 2nd, it will not hold the gear properly. It will change up by itself.

Put the car in 1st, and accelerate to say 80km/h and feel it change up around 60km/h.

But the point of a shiftkit is to make the gearbox shift harder/firmer and faster. It prevents slip and to an extent improves durability.

The Trangs HD2-C kit will allow a manual upshift with the lever but the factory limiter shift failsafe still remains operational unless you have it removed in a tune.

I have this kit and it does allow full manual downshifting under any circumstances.

The main benefits of the kit I found is a much quicker shift at WOT and better shift ranges. The gear holding is better too.

To really get the most from it though a tune would be good but it still drives great b4 a tune.

Transgo do a full manual Level3 as well.

i should say your car will do much more than 80kays in 2nd. i have a 5 speed manual and i get 98kays out of second. I would think the auto would go to 120?

the auto box will change up a gear even if its held in 1st or 2nd when it hits redline...5,500rpm, it will change by itself before it hits the rev limiter. you also cannot change down a gear if you are going too fast...try doing over 60km/h and put it into 1st...it wont untill u slow down to a more sensible speed for that gear, then it will throw u through the windscreen lol.

true about channging it to the first... I have taken the car upto the redline and a little past it on the second to test the theory and it did not change. I won't be doing that again as i could feel the engine straining a lot. I might just take it to an auto specialist and see whether i have one or not.

it is meant to change really hard/quick if it does have a shift kit when i floor it?
can anyone recommend a good, trustworthy and honest auto specialist please?
Cheers

I said put it into first and drive to 80km/h, not 2nd.

If you HAD a shiftkit, you'd know it. Trust me.

I'm getting some stuff done at RVO. They are flexible to your needs from what I've seen so far and have heard nothing bad about them. Ethics are scarce these days.
