Hi, I recently brought some 2nd hand FE2 Front Struts from some auction site. I haven't installed them yet, as I not sure of there condition. I always thought when u shorten them by pushing them in, they should slowly extend back out. They came from a VY SV6, that surposedly only done 40k before changing to a different suspension setup.
Not as u would think, there isnt any load as in 1600kg of car on it. As long as they arent leaking, i wouldnt stress. My 90/10's are hard to push down LOL

Hmm, still not really convinced. I have an other question to add. Can I install the FE2 to the front only. Only because I have to find the $$$ for a camber kit for the rear and had planed to do the fronts myself. Shouldn't be too long til I get the rear done.
They only come back out if they are gas. I'm not sure what holden did on the later cars but traditionaly (at least up to VP) the front struts are proper oil filled shockers. The gas inserts are just a lazy (and craper) way to rebuild them, you remove the guts of the strut and slide the insert in and these are the ones that bounce back up. Anyway liek I said it might be different VX-VY but Holden don't usually run gas shockers on factory cars, they wouldn't last long enough
