Hi, my dad recently fiddled with the fuses underneath the steering wheel our vt commodore exect, and now the car will not start at all, when you go to turn the ignition key, its like there is no ignition, they key just easily rolls all the way to the car turn on point, theres no slack or anything, I had a look underneath today, and there is a kind of fat wire with a plug on the end that is dangiling freely, i think this is the ignition lead im not sure, i tried to plug it into 1 of the fuse slots and the green circle light around the ignition slot where you put the key in light up, but still the same problem, has anyone got an idea of where this plug goes exactly? sorry for the lack of no picture i dont have a camer atm.
I just figured out that the ignition barrel had snapped inside the chamber, my mum went out and bought a new steering column today with a key, is it possible to just take out the barrel from teh new steering column and put it in the barrel hole in the car now or do u have to completely swap steering columns over? any feedback would be great, thankyou
you can swap the insides of the barrels over, theres a small hole which u can poke a nail head or something small into and the inside of the barrel slides out. Just dont muck around with it too much while its out as its easier to break.
Also it took me about 30minutes to get back in but it does go eventually just keep fiddling and dont lose patience.
*Also to get it out the key needs to be in ON position
Hope that helps
thanks for that, yeah i managed to do all that, and when i pulled the barrel out the end bit of steel had snapped, i think thats what the problem was in the first place..
