vx ss loud scraping noise??

2day while driving going about 30k's out of nowhere there was a loud scrapping and baggin noise, sounded like i was dragging my exhaust or tranny along the ground, pulled over car stalled jumped out and no signs of where the noise was coming from.
sounded like somthing had collapsed.
started her up again and nothing???
any ideas anyone?

Sure it isn't diff noise coming through?

Could be due for oil and additive change.

unsure, can the diff make a noise like that?
went for about 10 seconds on light acceloration.
was like dragging a piece of metal along the gound.

my diffs on the way out but it makes a bit softer sound id say and wouldnt just come n go i think. maybe check the handbrake, brake pad inside the wheel drum hasnt come loose

Possible Universal joint wearing out, or maybe something came loose under the car and rubbed against the tailshaft - maybe exhaust pipe or mounting bracket? Might be good to get it on a hoist and have a look.

i dont think the diff would cause the engine to stall tho?
shouldnt it have kept idling?

in any case, i dont think the noise you heard was a good one, or one you need to hear twice to investigate. I hope it is on ramps or a hoist somewhere and you are checking it out.

just got it off the hoist at csv, they thought the flex plate snapped but its fine.
1 of the cats is rattling abit tho apart from that they say all is fine.

now diff rebuild and 3.9s, 3000 stally, cam, otr cai, maffless tune, say 5g a decent price?
