    Default Engine light coming on.

    Hey Guys,

I have a VXII LS1 and on these cold mornings we have been having the engine check light has been coming on.

It seems that it is only coming on when i have the throttle wide open. Once i back of the throttle it then goes back off. It has only been doing it in the mornings and for the first 20mins of driving. I always let the car warm up before i drive off. Normaly let it idle for 5 minutes first thing before i drive off.

Im not sure if i can read any codes that it is logging as im new to the LS1 world. I know with my old VS V6 i could but not sure if its the same with the LS1.

I have the usual larger MAF pipe, M.C.A.I, 2 hole mod etc done. Do you think that maybe its just getting too much cold air and going out side its limits.

Unfortunately you can't read the codes without a scantool, so you will need to go somewhere where they have a tech 2.

It could be anything, I would only be guessing when I say throttle position sensor.
I know how you feel about not being able to read the fault codes since buying an LS1. I bought a scan tool and lately my engine light comes on whenever I drive but the scan tool says I have no fault codes logged. Just waiting for the next service to find out what it is.

That really sucks. didnt want to go to a dealer they will just rip me off. Might look at getting a scan tool.

I was thinking it could possibly just need a retune. Have done a few mods to it lately. Could do with with a touch up tune.

Is the car auto or manual? Check engine can also relate to the trann as well. It is actually the powertrain warning light even though it is a pic of an engine. Trust me I have seen it too many times on my car

Its auto, But one thinkg i noticed today while driving to work its not actually related to WOT. It comes on at high revs, It comes on at about 4500rpm no matter what gear (only tried 1st and second though) and no matter your throttle position.

Im now thinking it could be the o2 sensor as i had high flow cats fitted about a month ago and the selant they used may have damaged sensor.
