G'day all,
Got a engine mount done yesterday and now my orange "check power-train" light keeps coming on.
Called the Mechanic and he recons its nothing and the noise is most likely the other engine mount.
It has made the noise before I got the mount done but not half as bad.
Its like a slight fast clunking/clicking noise when going up a hill or driving at low revs (ie:1500/2000 revs). Stamp ya foot down or drop it back a gear and it goes away (Auto VX 3.8).
The sound reminds me of a manual in too higher gear, or the sound when someone is bunny hopping a car or about to stall it.
Any help would be great, light doesnt come on as soon as ya start the car, thats why I'm thinking its not 'nothing'.
I'm really worried and ****ed off about it all, gotta head up to Gladstone soon and down the coast tomorrow.
Anyone?? Please??
It could well be the mount. When they changed the other mount they would have lifted the engine a bit to replace the mount, which could have broken the other mount if it was already worn.
Best bet is to check fault codes to see why the check engine light is on.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
I may have had the same problem a while ago. I needed an engine mount and it went it to get done. When i picked it up i was told the other one was on the way out so i booked it in for following weekend
Now during that week i notice a pretty loud noise while stopped at idle. After i while i worked out it was the extractor hitting. Once the other new mount was put in no more noise
Not sure if i helped but i tried
Thanks fellers.
How do I go about check the fault codes??
Looks like I'm gettin a code of 103 and 32, but its not flashing the 12 code first at all...
As far as I know code 103 isn't a code and it should falsh code 12, 3 times at the beginning and the end of the cycle and any codes in between will also flash 3 times. Maybe you are reading it wrong.
There is a link in the link below on how to read fault codes. It may or may not be the one you got your information from.

I'll have a look at it. I'm gettin 10 flashes straight off.

Is the noise defiantly coming from the front?

I think its coming from the front bud, could be in the middle somewhere. Is gettin worse, now doing it up small hills when pulled back to 3rd aswell... Got me stuffed.
Diff maybe?? I really dont know...
yeh it could be diff. Does it sound like metal on metal chatter?

thats weird as!!
Its hard to describe mate... Ever driven a car and had it in too higher gear for a hill and it makes that clunk clunk noise like its almost stalling... Or the sound when a learner driver is bunny hopping a car.
Work has been done to the engine mounts
Engine management light is coming on
The car is making a funny noise like when you go up a hill in too high a gear.
Check the wires going to the knock sensors (in the engine block near the engine mounts), maybe they have been disconnected or broken while the work was done to the mount.
Called the mech today, he seems to think that the vibration is cause the knock sensor to go off. Hopefully get it in tomorrow and he finds where the vibration is coming from.
"that clunk clunk noise like its almost stalling".
Could also be described as "knocking, pinging, pinking, (depending on where you live) thats what the knock sensors detect.
haha, yeh mate but what the hell making the noise?
Got it back from them today and its still not fixed... Dropping it back on Friday and they better fix it this time.
it is your leads and plugs.. under heavy load it puts alot of stress on them therefore it may miss fire. had the same problem in my vt, changed them both and the problem was gone
