    Default VX onto LPG

Hi We have a 2001 VXII statesman V6 & a VXII supercharged Calais at home. Am looking at converting to duel fuel. The system I enquired about is either a OMVL or a BRC, both of which are Italian made I understand.

It seems that Ford's convert better than the good ol Holden V6. The Installer told me that the old mixer system is fine for years earlier than 2004 whereby they then need the newer >$4k sequential system.

Can I convert without any problems ? N.B. Both cars have traction control and I understand that the older system will not work with this?

Do a search matey, you'll find heaps of threads on LPG.

The Stato should convert no probs, being a standard 6.
Have u looked at the Impco system for it, use the factory system if u can.

The super 6 u may have to go SVI cause of the blower.
Im no expert, only know what i've got and used.

    Hope this helps.

Yes to your whole post lol.

Go for the OMVL kit, mines been running for ~25,000kms without a service . T/C works fine with the injection systems.

With the non supercharged one I would personally go for a Genuine Impco system with a lean bias logic processor.
Why do you think holden went with Impco for its factory fitments?? They tried heaps of different systems out and when it came down to it the Impco stuff made better power and stayed in tune much longer and was much more reliable.
With thew supercharged one you can only go with injection. A backfire with the supercharger would be catastrophic. I have been fitting injection systems for a while now and by far the best system I have fitted on these would be Eurogas. They run the Kehein injectors which are the highest flowing and most reliable LPG injectors on the market BY FAR.
The Injection system will also allow you to run a smaller pulley and more boost safetly without the risk of detonation occuring as LPG is a higher octane fuel. The last one I did we fitted a piggy back compuetr so we could push the tune even further easily (ie. with the touch of a keypad) and make tuning for future mods easier. It was a bit of overkill but the results spoke for themselves with a 22.5% increase in power over the pre LPG fitment power figure.

blownba - how much can the Kehein injectors flow? The OMVL ones on my car can't keep up with ~200kw.

Thanks for the comments. So, It seems that a standard non-SVI system is OK for the Statesman, but would need the newer wiz bang one for the supercharged engine. By the way, what does T/C mean when you say It;s fine with Injection systems. Also, again, If converting the Statesman to LPG, wil the traction control be effecteted or any other problems that i should know about ? Petrol's just hit $172.00 / ltr now here in Melbourne. Maybe we'll all just go back to the old horse & cart !

If u go the mixer system in the stato u will lose traction when on gas.
    It will automatically disable it.
Thats wot ours does. But it'll turn back on when on petrol.
Stoke my ego, click the scales!!!
    Stoke it!!!!
    LOVE IT!!!!!

T/C = traction control. It will function the exact same as it does on gas as with petrol with the injection systems.

Thanks. So if the only propblem is the T/C not working while on gas - with the regular LPG system, that's probably a small price to pay. We also have an EL Ford at home which is being converted next week. Fords seem to love LPG, but can the same be saidabout Holden V6's ? I don't want to convert and then have constant problems because of it.

Yes the same can be said.
Just make sure you choose a competent installer and make sure they are using lean bias processors to control the mixtures.
These new systems lessen the chance of backfire occuring MASSIVLY. And the give the best economy by far and drivability is improved too.
I know alot of places fit LPG LEADS and PLUGS for free when they do standard conversions. This will eliminate the chance of backfire occuring.
I heard from a guy the other day that his mate had his conversion done by some mob in Rowville and the said he couldn't run it on gas untill he had his plugs and leads done first!!!! WTF!!!! how sad is that. That is what you want to watch out for.

BlownBA - yeah I had mine done at Sth East Auto LPG Conversions in Rowville by frank and some other dude there too... Originally quoted me $2,650 drive in drive out, then they fkn call me and say oh you will need new plugs and leads $150 extra thanks ....
So they slug you with that sh1t... Their tuning is done via revving the fk outta the engine and turning a screw on the lean / rich electronic mixer module with a blue LED light on it...
Hmmmz.... Not going back there again thats for sure!

    Cheers,
