G'day All,
It's been a while since I have been on here. Good to see still going strong.
I have tried searching the rest of the website but can't seem to find answers to the issues with my 01 VX commodore.
1. I keep blowing the horn fuse.
2. I can't change the direction of air flow through vents inside the car. Turning the rotary switch (e.g. frow demist to face or feet) does not do anything. It is currently stuck on demist. There are no issues with the fan speed, A/C or temperature control.
I only have a little understanding of mechanics but not sure where to start for either problem.
I appreciate your time.
Problem 1 is due to a short, most likely at the horn pad.
Problem 2 is most probably due to a vacuum problem. Check the condition of the thin vacuum hose that goes to the rear of the intake manifold.
If you don't hear a hiss when changing vent positions, then there is no vacuum.
with the horn either relay is stuffed or horn itself needs replacement.
Thanks guys.
Checked the thin vacuum line at the back of the intake manifold. It wasn't even connected!!! I wouldn't have thought to look there!
I removed the horn and replaced the fuse. When I press the horn button the fuse does not blow. So I am thinking it's the horn.
Thanks again.
