fuel gauge problem

Hey all i have a problem with my fuel guage in my commodore vt it always stays on full all the way up and doesnt move but the digital trip is working fine do they somehow work seperate??? what would cause the needle to get stuck or stop working all of a suddon?

I have the same issue with my VT, I got a new dash and put it in.... same problem, Im guessing its the sender unit in the fuel tank, I pulled the tank out the other week, you need a special tool to undo all the clamps holding the fuel lines on. Im going to get that and a sender unit and see if that fixes it.
