ey guys
just wanna know how hard is it to change the rear springs?
shud they just pop out when i jack the car up? can i do it with the wheels on aswell ?
cheerz
umm, you're going to need to take the wheels off
and you're going to need spring compressors at the least.
I did mine the other week, in the end had to losen the diff cradle & drop the whole lot down to get the springs to come out. Thats with stock springs, if they are lowereds that are in there, then prob will just drop down when you get the car up & wheels off.
Sping compressors = dangerous! lol Ive used them on live axles no problems but damn near killed myself the other weekend when it flew off & got my shoulder![]()
You don't need spring compressors for the rears and it's easier with the wheels off.
yeh cheerz for that, mite just wait for when i get my tune done, then wack it on the hoist then, as hes got all the tools then, instead of doin it at home...
yeh those spring compressors are fair dangerous as they tend to slip at any time lol
It's pretty easy and you'll probably do it within half an hour. It's the fronts that are pretty difficult to do.
if you use a spring compressor properly, it can't slip, so I dont know what you people have been doing.
got another question, when i have passengers now with my car the 20's scrub, with the SSL is that goin to be constant scrubbing now?
any way to fix it? or has it all got to do with the profile of the tyre?
Depends on what's rubbing mate, it may be possible to roll your guards, just talk to a panel beater.
Are the sidewalls rubbing the inner guards? If it is, there's something wrong if it's doing that on Superlow's.
yeh guards were rolled when i got the 20's.... umm...adjustable panhard rod... reckon that would help.. also to keep things level
*scratches head* speak engrish man
what doesnt make sense? he asked if a panhard rod would help, no it wont, as it does not have one.
a camber kit might help depending where its scraping, its different to a panhard rod.
maybe its just me, being first thing in the morning, but i dont see any confusing bits in there?
ah, he asked if an adjustable panhard rod would help, which it would if he actually had one to replace!
y did i ask that question then..... to see if i needed 1, but obviously it dosent even have 1 which i didnt know, surely it makes sense m8, mayb go check your eyes,
cheerz hakhawk ur good help![]()
You guys are going around in bloody circles, pretty much saying the exact same thing.
My suggestion is first jack the car up and look for any parts of the sidewall that have been scrubbed out or look for some extreme rubbing out of the tyres.
All you need is a good trolley jack, jack it up at the diff, take it out of gear + handbrake and rotate the wheels to find it.
After that, get a mate to observe or drive and roll the car forward to see if you can find scrapage.
The problem with lowering a Commodore that much with such big wheels is that everything needs to become VERY precise to work. Once you find the problem, you're probably going to have to go to a suspension joint to solve it.
Rolling the guards doesn't sound like an option. Don't get Pedders to fix it up either, they're only good for their safety check.
guys dont worry, its all been done, took me 10 mins not even, chuckd it up on the hoist springs fell right out, chuck new 1's in, and looking bloody sweet
cheerz for all the ppl that helped out, look in my ride thread for photo's will be up soon![]()
ah, you need shorter shocks.
na m8, who cares bout that, its all good now, money is going 2wards engine now and thats it
you need shorter shocks
