Default Auto Transmission - Metal sound

    Hey guys

I have a VT S2. I think the torque converter has slightly been damaged in my auto trans flush. If I accelerate now it will hold gear really tight and accelerate but I hear a slight metal tingling sound. I presume this is apart of the torque converter transmission metal that is floating around.

General question is how long will my trans continue to stay in current condition (mechanically it shifts great and drives fine) before I have to consider getting a rebuild or new torque converter (will the trans just continue now to get worse and worse).

If I take the car on a trip at constant speed and then put my foot to the floor you don't hear the noise. However around surburban streets if I do it you will hear the noise. With the radio on at normal volume you can't hear it.

Just wondering opinions on this? Be good to hear from auto trans mechanics as well, if your out there

So you had the same noise problem? It seems I can't hear it when it is cooler (like driving the car at night or first thing in the morning). I do hear it a little bit (if I'm paying attention as it is soft) during stop start driving. Yeah I think the g'box will survive but just want to know what is causing that noise and any possible solutions, 'besides a rebuild' (don't know if this is possible). It shifts fine and holds gear so mechanically it still operates A1. Won't do a flush again though, just get a mechanic to do it.

    Hey guys

Thought I would post up some more information to see if that helps.

Did another drive today and drove the car (at night). The noise is very minimal but it occurs mainly up hills when your doing about 50km/h. I also noticed that 2nd gear to 3rd slightly clunks in a soft fashion(enough to feel a slight change in gear in your seat although it isn't harsh). This happens on occasion (not all the time in my 30min test drive) but my family have owned this car since new and the gearbox has always been a bit clunky in this regard, especially from Park to Reverse. 1st 3rd and 4th gear transitions are all smooth however.

    Any thoughts?
