I've got a VX series 1, and have noticed that the CD player will not play burnt CDs in the mornings (i suspect because of the cold). However, it will play non burnt CDs.
It will play burnt CDs once the CD player has warmed up, or if the car has been running for a while.
Has anyone experienced this? Know what causes it or how to fix it?
is it just the stock Eurovox???
if so, do what im gonna do in about a week............
step 1: go to post office and buy a post pack
step 2: remove the unit from dash
step 3: take to it with a baseball bat
step 4: place remains into post pack bag(along with a note telling them how crap their products are and to keep them out of the holdens) addressed to Eurovox Australia and place into postal box
step 5: put a decent new head unit in and enjoy
ahhahahahah, i dare you to actually do that!
i will be i will post pics too!
Burnt CDs can create problems for older players like the vx and whether they play them can be a marginal issue.
The problem could be as simple as minor amounts of condensation on the CDs when you put them into the player(which obviously can affect the reflection of light from the disc), especially if the CDs have been stored in the car overnight. Just the breath of a human inside the vehicle will cause small amounts of condensation on everything when the interior is cold. The solution would be to keep the cds warm.
while i appreciated your post commsirac, i have to say, if its a Eurovox, its bcos its ****, i have a series2 S vx, it plays cd...........when it wants to. i buy a new cd off the shelf, it will play it, the next time i try to play the same disc? i get CDE4 so its not just a problem with burnt cd's its just the eurovox, the only thing they r good for is landfill
Can also be a problem with the player aging. Laser output will drop with use causing reading errors, which is also compounded by any condensation on the disc surface.
This can happen when the player is trying to read the disc info at the start and the player will do nothing, or may just cause skipping while playing.......not worth fixing....as you say....landfill.
Yes it's the original player.
It is only burnt CDs. I have never had an error with an original disc. If I start with a burnt CD, it won't play. I then put an original disc in and it will play. Then i take that out and put in an original disc and it won't play again.
Maybe it is just the player aging, and the fact that burnt CDs are slightly harder to read...
I had a problem with my WK... I copied a CD (I own the original but dont like keeping them in my car) and it didnt play. I then copied the same Cd using 8x Speed on my cd copying (Nero) software and it worked.
Try copying your CDs at 4x or 8x. PM me if it dont make sense.
