VX Exhaust System Help
Hi All
New to the forum. I heard this is a great place to come when wanting to seek knowledge about Holdens.
I have recently purchased myself a 2001 VX II SS Commodore. She is all stock at the moment, which I would like to change. I am first of all looking at changing the exhaust system but have a very limited knowledge and would like some ideas of how to go about setting my car up.
I know what sort of sound I want, I just dont know how to get the car to produce the sound. Firstly, on idle or low revs I would like to have that deep bubbling sound a V8 can make. I have been told that I may have to change the cam to produce this.
Next I would love more sound when accelerating, at the moment the car is quite quiet and wussy. I would like to get the same sort of sound you get from a V8 Supercar but I know you have to be careful its not too loud. A sound that is more close to harsh than smooth and deep. When crusing I would like a nice mellow sound....a sound where you can still talk without raising your voice.
Then when changing down a gear I would like that same sound as with the accelerating but with that bubbling sound like on idle. and also a poping sound.
I have been told I should look at extractors, Pacemaker headers and a 2 3inch exhaust. I just dont know what I am looking for in these parts to create the sound I want.
Pretty well Im open to all sugestions on what would be the better setup.
Thanks

To do a full exhaust system you're looking at about the $2000 mark.
$600+ for a good catback system
$1400 for extractors and highflow catalytic converters.
Get the car tuned MAFless, OTR intake....full exhaust...mmmmmm
