    Default VT slugish

    Hi there Peoples,

A friend of mine has a VT calais 1999 V6. She claims at take of the car is slugish. Before the Calais she used to known a VT exec and it was heaps better on take of.

Is there a difference between the engines at all??

Would there be a problem with it??

    Thanks in advance.

    Arty

should all be the standard ecotec motor, unless the old 1 was supercharged...

Probably start with the easy bits, air filter/plugs/leads/fuel filter.... & obviously possibly how old the oil is....

Do as stated in the above two posts, if it dosnt change after that then I would be looking further down the line. I would also run some fuel injector cleaner with 98 ron fuel to clean the injectors, do this after you've changed the fuel filter.

I thought metho was for getting rid of water not really for cleaning stuff out??

Both correct, I also use some metho, it mixes with any water in the tank and shoots it through the injectors and out. My method is to have a nearly empty tank, put a whole bottle of injector cleaner in, $20 of 98RON premium and a 1 litre bottle of metho in and go for a squirt.

Yeah exactly right, no use pumping metho through when the tank is full... It mixes in too well.

The squirt part is fun.... Would be more fun in your car Mack...

Metholated spirit....methyl alcohol....wood alcohol....ethanol???, all readily mix with water, wonder what the differance would be by only using the 10% ethanol from the servos?? probably all have the same end result.
Do we have an industrial chemist in the house?

i put a bottle of metho (ethanol) thorugh my tank every now and then, good injector & fuel system cleaner and boosts octane.
