My rear passenger door is stuck in dead lock mode. I can not pull the lock up as it is dead locked and when i try to unlock with key or central locking it the door is still engaged in dead lock. All other doors unlock but its just this one door and is starting to frustrate me.Does anyone know of a way to fix this without ripping the door trim off?????
Theres a couple of things you could try...
1. See if the door is completely shut...if not try shoving the door closed using your weight. Then try unlocking the doors.
2. Close all doors and lock the doors using your key in the driver side lock barrel. Deadlock the doors turning your key twice anti-clockwise with a pause in between.
Remove the key, then reinsert your key into the driver side lock barrel and unlock the doors by turning your key clockwise.
If you every do unlock this door, grease the hinges and lock mech with some zinc oxide grease. Hope it helps.
The only door that dead locks is the drivers door. Dead locking disables the electrics, thats why it is called 'dead' locking, IE no power. When you cut the power, no doors will unlock except the drivers door. I would say you have a buggered actuator or a connection problem in that door. Or maybe the rod that connects to the unlock mechanism in the latch has either fallen off or broken.
Nope...my deadlock works on all 4 doors ie you cannot unlock any door without the key.
The idea of the deadlock is so a would-be-thief cannot put their arm inside if you happen to have a window open or partially open, and flick up the tab to unlock the doors.
yeh thats right, on my old car when i deadlocked it, i cudnt open any doors from inside
I think he means that on the VT it is the only one that does the deadlocking. not that it is the only one that gets deadlocked.
Sounds like what happened to me, I think it is the motor inside on mine. The thing to be careful with on this is mine came good and would open manually. I sprayed a heap of wd40 down there on someones advice out of desparation. not sure if that did anything.
But if some uses it it won't lock witht he key so you can effectively leave that door unlocked. If it starts work manually again it can catch you out. Sort of the opposite effect of deadlocking.
Once the car is dead locked, no door will unlock because there is no power to any of the actuators. Sorry, I should have been clearer. When I said the drivers door, I meant with the key, but that will only be if there was no power at all.
So does anyone know of a way to unlock the door then ????
ah as far as im aware vt - vz has remote electronic activated deadlocking vr-vs had deadlocking activated by turning the key in the lock, i just tried it on my vz and it dead locks all doors including tailgate as you an hear and feel it through the door handles,
as im using the two stage unlocking, if you unlock the drivers door it releases the dead locks on the other doors (you can hear it) while staying locked,
they must use 3 way actuators or something,

I had this problem. My VX rear left door wouldn't unlock, and it was deadlocked. Trying to pull up the lock button was impossible. I pulled so hard the knob pulled right off!
because I couldn't open the door I had to resort to ripping off the material arm rest section of the door. I just used a screw driver to pry it off. (Breaking most of the clips in the process). I will glue this back on when I'm done.
I then cut the plastic rain guard at the back end off the door so I could access the outside door handle nuts (2 x 10mm). I undid them and removed the door handle.
Through that opening I could unlatch the rod that attatches to the door lock solenoid. I could then manually move the deadlocking mechanism and open the door using the inside door handle.
I then had to remove the inside door trim to re-attach the rod that attached to the door lock button.
