The missus' VX keeps blowing the cigarette lighter fuse when she plugs something into it, everything from the lighter itself to her phone charger or the dvd player. you can get around the car charger by plugging it in first then turning the car on, but if you forget, as she does, it will blow immediately!
Any ideas as to the cause? possible short on the lighter itself?
cheers

I have this same problem havent got around to looking at it yet but i have been told the socket itself comes lose behind the dash and thats what causes it...
Dont know how true it is tho will let you know when i have a look at mine this arvo
I WISH MY GRASS WAS EMO SO IT WOULD CUT ITSELF
Sounds like the cigarette lighter outlet housing is stuffed. just get a new housing to replace. good news is, its all spade connections so there is no soldering involved. the bad news is you have to take your stereo headunit out and about half your center console to get at it. have fun.
Yeah didn't think it would be a straight forward pop out and replace, like the VR. Will have a look on the weekend. Thanks for the info.

this one kept happening to me, it was the nut on the back of the cigarette lighter was loose. It was hard to do up as well not enough thread. You have to pull out the centre console to get to it, but gives youa chance to give it a good clean inside there.
When my fuse kept blowing the sunroof, which is on the same fuse would close by itself. In my case very worthwhile pulling out the centre console to fix.
Take your time to pull out the centre console, if you rush you might be tempted to try to cut corners and snap things off.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
I had the same problem when i got my VX. Found the nut had fallen off the back. I got lazy and just went to auto parts shop and got one of those adapters that gives you too outlets.
Plugged this into the one on the car added some super glue to the original housing to stop it from moving and never had any problems since. i found it much better as the twin socket sits in a better location to get too.
Was a quick fix and i gained a extra socket.
