what causes these strange things in my vt?

hi got some strange things happening- can anyone help whats the cause-
first of all, - after i get fuel and i start car it idles up and down for about 30 seconds or so , only does this after i get fuel but once it does this for 30 seconds or so its fine till i put fuel in again

2nd thing- i filled up tonite for the first time since i got the car, and the red fuel light came on and stayed on even though the gauge said it was full, and when i drove down the road the gauge went to empty and the distance till empty gauge went ------------- - WHAT CAUSES THIS OR DID I BUY A DUD??

Hey think i might have a answer.
When i first bought my vt both of the things you mentioned happend to me. But my fuel guage would work, not work, work, then give me false kms to empty, work.
So i took it to the holden place and it turned out to be the fuel sensor.
In order to replace this they had to drop my fuel tank etc.
Cost me around 400 - 500 dollar mark. But with the petrol filling up issue mine does the same evrynow and then but only for a few seconds???
And no i dont think you bought a dud. You must remember vt's are starting to age and if its a s1 like mine things like this are bound happen. Its part of owning a car.
