Default VT Series II Sway bar link pins

    Hey everyone.

I've been looking at some sway bar link pin replacements on eBay and some of them say they only work on the Series 1 VT Commodores. Is there actually a difference between the Series 1 and 2 VT link pins?

The bushes are split so I'm wondering whether I should just buy new bushes and keep the original straight pins, or buy a new kit with new bushes and 'S' shape pins?

    Cheers, Tim

PS> When replacing the pins, do I jack up the front left or do I need to use a trolley jack and axle stands so that both wheels are suspended in the air or not jack it up at all?

replace with the bent pins. straight pins only put the bushes on stupid angles. this is why the are stuffed so quick. you should notice it handle much better with the bent ones.

im not sure if there is a difference but defiantly change the to the s shape pins..

the straight ones chew the bushes alot quicker

just go to you local repco/bursons and get a nolothane kit to change both sides.. should only be $50

I found that the nolathane bushes did not have as much thread on them for the nuts as the original ones. This meant that the z pin kept rotate to a different position after a long drive. If I went any tighter on the nolathane ones, I would strip the thread.

there is no difference in the link pins from VN-VTII they changed on the VX's to a ball joint on the bottom of the link pin.
The nolathane part number for the link pins for VN-VTII is 42997a and they retail at repco for $45-$50 for the pair.

    cheers

All I can say with the experiences I had is there are two choices. One is stay with the standard rubber bush original holden link pin set, or if you dont want that, go with the nolathane kit part number 42997A.

Don't bother with cheap no names as I've done, they may be cheap, but they can be a lot of trouble! and whatever you do don't ever get the ball joint link pin type because I also made that mistake and they simply snap off at the ball joint!!!! Pretty bad and dangerous if you ask me!

Me personally, I am now back to using the nolathane kit 42997A and will never ever use anything else as I'm sick of trying all different types and I personally believe the nolathane kit is the best, but the holden kit is a decent second place. They are both reliable and safe unlike the other crap I have mentioned! The holden link pins do bend a little in a standard height VT, but I have never known them to snap. It could be a different story on a lowered VT. I wouldn't know about that, I am only referring to standard height VT's.
