I found this some time ago under the dash board in my 97 VT Calais and back then i thort it looked odd but didnt think much of it. I saw it again today n gave it a flick and it lit up. i think it lights up when it detects sound and only when the car is off.
Some sort of alien tracking device??
Looks like a microphone to me. They are watching you...always watching

thats part of an alarm system. its the sensor that senses when glass is broken.

woah thats quite interesting. when i looked at it i thort, hey whys this thing picking up sound, and it looked put in dodgy cos the cable tie.
I just wonder how effective it is, does it just detect the sound from a window being broken or something. i think theres also a small red light running from it up into the plastic next to the steering wheel but i havent seen that light up at all.
yeah either a glass break sensor or a shock sensor... eiother one...
think glass emits a frequency when it breaks... it picks that up... donno, google it..
aZk.
Taken in reference to home alarm systems but I would assume car ones work the sameBasically, glass break sensors work by recognizing the sound/shockwave made by the glass of your windows breaking. Then an alarm sounds.

its defently a glass breaker sensor as i said before.
if you get a coin. and tap it on your window your alarm should go off. tapping a coin on the window puts off the same sound. if it does not go off you should move it closer to the windows.
lock and arm your car with you siting inside, and then jingle your keys the glass break should light and trigger the alarm. or what lil_oneblue says tap keys/coins on window.
