My vt needs a new heater core, Coolant is leaking out the air con drain pipe, Has anyone attempted this? I Know that the dash has to come out but is there a way of getting the heater core out without de gassing the air con? Can you get the heater box out far enough to get the heater core with out disconecting the air con?
If I was to take it somewhere to get the job done can anyone recomend someone in the Newcastle-Maitland area to do this? I am sure the dealer would charge $$$$ to do the job! Any idea on $$$
Thanks
Kevin
I am not sure about the VT - but in the VS there is a much easier way to replace the heater core - it involves cutting the pipes that go through the firewall - and the heater core slides out.
You then cut the new heater core pipes to match, slide the new one in to place and join with rubber hose and hose clamps. It works a treat, quick and easy. You'll save over$500 if you do it yourself in 20minutes.
This link has some pics heater core on VS .
- no need to remove any dash pieces, no need to touch any a/c components. I did it on my VS and was still fine after 3yrs.
Again, I'll stress this was all good on the VS - I don't know how the VT setup differs? Just thought it may be worth mentioning.
u cant do the same with the VTs like u can with the VS mine is doin the same as urs shepard u need 2 degas the system b4 its attempted and the whole dash needs 2 come out depending who u know and where u ask price ranges from $500 - $1000 2 do.
