Default computer and I think it's called body module

Hi people....I stay in melbourne vic..Sunshine and just wandering ....where can I get a body module and a computer for my vt 1998 5ltr v8 manual. I've blown it!!!! ....lol.. long story....second hand would help. and also can it be taken out of another model simillar to mine and put in. I know it maybe a stupid question but just trying to find a less expensive way of doing this...my car sits in the garage at the moment with none of the above in it...and want it back on the road asap.I have been quoted $1500 for both items which doesn't include fitting. Does anyone know where I can possibly get these parts cheaper? Can I get these parts from wreckers? and if I can..could I install it myself? Please help if you can....its an exspensive lesson..lol

Depending on which one you've blown, the two main modules you may need to get your car going are body control module (BCM) and powertrain control module (PCM). As Fr3ak+-- said, the wreckers are the best place to go if you need those parts cheap. But be aware you'll need all those parts coming from the same car or the security codes in these modules won't let you start your car. If you go for the exact same make and model as your car, it should be pretty straight forward swap for the modules.

How did you blow them up by the way?

Will have to go to holdens and get them programed, also need new keyheads for the bcm but might be able to get a bcm with keys.

Commwreck on Ballarat Rd would be the go. 93123333

Exceltune in Duke Street, Braybrook can handshake the ecu/bcm etc for a lot less than Holden will charge. 93113345.

I assume your car is at Kevin Dennis? They are good but very pricey.

If your replacing the body control module you will need a tech 2 to program the security to it or your car wont go. Don't know about the computer but the bcm is not plug and play from what I've been told.
