hi, tryed taking the door trim off the other day but couldnt figure out how i can get the window winder off how do i go about doing that?
thanks
To remove the window winder handle a special tool is available that looks a bit like a tuning fork that can be used to remove the 'C' clip that holds it on.
The ghetto version is a cloth stretched between your hands and slid between the handle and the door trim to work the clip off. Stiff cloth like denim works better for this than soft cloth like an old 'T' shirt.
The door lock button is removed by lifting the red insert out of the button to release it. It stays with the button on a second pair of clips rather being removed altogether. The best way to release the red clip is to lift it with a seal pick ( Hooks & Picks & Scriber ) or similar. I have used the top section of an old aerial ground to a sharp point and I have also seen posted here of someone using the point of a large safety pin.
It's been a while since I've pulled a VT door trim off but if I recall correctly there will be a few Philips head screws around the (bottom) edge of the trim. The trim is held on by clips that push into the door = lever it off with your fingertips, gradually working your way around until the trim is free. It then lifts up from out of between the door shell and window at the top.
I think that tool can be bought from repco or supercheap for a few $$ if you have trouble.
This was what i got..
