Default Power steering URGENT HELP

Hey guys iv searched the threads nothin for what im after.
Ok my situation is there is a vt for sale, im pretty sure im gunna buy it for pretty cheap, but the power steering is screwed and the owner doesnt know whats wrong with it. No mechanics are open this hour and i need to know pretty much by the morning cos there is alot of offers. So if not to much trouble could ppl just list the major and most probable things to go wrong and an around about price would be great. i think its only rack, pump and resivoir.

Also door handles estimated price. cheers guys, very urgent.

ben/.

Have you actually seen the car? Like have you checked the obvious, power steering fluid reservoir level? Does it whine? Does it clunk when you turn the wheel or does it not turn at all? Is it heavy or does it pull to one side? Anyway usual causes are broken drive belt, low fluid level, pump pressure, or gear assembly. Power steering pump and reservoir are cheap and easy to replace. Steering gear not to bad but if this is the cause you may as well replace all the bushes, boots and even perhaps the tie rod ends as well.

Its obviously leaking Fluid and the only parts to the Power steering is the pump and rack, pray its the pump there alot easier to change and alot cheaper
then again whats a rack ? 300 bucks

No fluid means no pressure which means no power assisted steering. The rack will be ok I'd say. $170 fitted for the pump as the seals would have **** themselves running dry.

On this same subject, the commo has 17" vy ss mags, straight as body, 213000kms.

The only things wrong are power steering, 2 door handles, battery (nothin). he only wants $2500 for it, so yeh im gunna sell my car already got an offer, and buy it, as soon as somethin goes wrong give it a rebuild, still a cheap vt ay.

Oh yeh and its just out of rego to, but should, no will def pass a rw.

cheers, ben

$2500 sounds cheap hey. Better do a revs check on it to be sure theres no money owing on it.
