I removed the door trim on drivers side front door, i found the electric door regulator has broken and sitting in the door, i noticed it is instaled by 4 big poprivets. do you have to drillout these rivets to replace the electric regulator assembly??
any advice thanks....
I did notice the the rail runner is bolted in by 2 bolts. but the reguator is def pop riveted in.
Yes you do have to drill the rivets out. You can buy rivets from Holden for around $2 each or you could use bolts instead. The proper rivets are unusual and hard to find (well I couldn't find any) so save your time and go to Holden.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
I 2nd the above. I just replaced the passenger door (electric) regulator last night - I would suggest you buy 1 or 2 spare rivets - I didn't get the regulator close enough to the frame with one of them & had to drill it out & re-rivet it. Mind you, I had left my run a bit late & was doing this in the dark, mostly by braille so it serves me right.
I also searched for replacement rivets at Repco & Mitre 10, nothing came close so was happy to just go & get the genuine ones, I agree you would be better off just doing this.

I'm in the process of doing this job myself and the replacement regulator I got came with bolts to replace the rivets
do you have to keep using rivets or can u just replace it using bolts?
You can replace using bolts and nuts. Just make sure the bolts arent real long or else they may hit on the regulator.
The one I bought came with bolts supplied you won't need nuts as the new bolts screw straight in to threaded holes in the new regulator. I had the job done in an hour and a half the most difficult part was trying to hold up the window plus hold the new regulator in place while trying to screw in the new bolts.
