    Default VX Oil pressure switch

Can someone tell me where the oil pressure switch is on my 2002 VX Gen 111 V8 calais. The engine train dash light is on and code said it was oil switch. Damned if I can see it, not easy to see past all the stuff on V8.

The oil pressure sensor, which assume is the same as an oil pressure switch, is located behind the intake manifold, near the firewall. It is difficult to see and probably equally difficult to remove. I just bought one on ebay and am waiting for it to arrive.

Thanks Guys, I found it between firewall and top manifold.

accentstencil, How much is it on ebay? Holden dealer (damned rogues) quoted 200 dollars for the oil pressure sensor and I got one from Bursons in Geelong for 16 dollars. It turned out to be the wrong connection but I dont think it will be a hassle to exchange it for the correct one. The wrong one has 3 pins in line whilst the one on the car has 3 pins in a close circular pattern. Looking at it, It should'nt be too hard to get a tube socket over it to remove and replace.

I paid $61 for it on ebay. I hope I get the right one. The guy seems to sell a few. Let me know if you want the info on that.
I had a good look around before buying and the only place that could get them was Bursons for around $145. I was quoted $164 at Holden. I also saw them for $88 somewhere on the net.
I take it you paid $160 and not $16.

Yeah accentstencil , it looks like I might have to go genuine so any info on where to get one would be appreciated. The ebay price looks pretty good, I could not see any on ebay.

The ebay price was an auction so it may cost you more or less, depending on the amount of interest in the item. I am expecting mine tomorrow, I hope, it's coming from Perth. I will let you know if it is the correct one.
Here is a link to the one's for $88. I'll get back with ebay info.Fuel pumps idle speed motors fuel injectors oxygen sensors

Dont forget you will need a special tool to remove it. There is a purpose built socket you can buy to make it easier to remove.

not sure what they cost as i borrowed one of a mate. But i did try without it and stuffed if i could do it. The socket has a cut out to allow for the loom that connects to the sensor. There is not much room back there to try and use a spanner or shifter.

Thanks for the advice. There certainly isn't much room to work. I hope to get by with a tube spanner, once I know what size it is.

i think you will find the loom/connecter will get in the way. you may just have to mod your tube spanner to fit

My sensor arrived today and I didn't have a tube spanner to fit so I went to Burson's and bought an oil pressure switch socket for $18. It is a Lisle 13200 if anyone would like to know and it made the job easier even with the lack of room to work.
The engine warning light is now off, thank god.
