U could do it ur self if ur game enough, you would have to pull the cloth off the board. The vinyl could be stuck on with VHT contact adhesive it comes in a can spray on and go, i done all the carpet in my boot with it but be carefull with it its strong so if you stuff up some were you'll have to start from scratch.

No worries, some people use a thin layer of foam or some thing under the vinyl to make it look a bit softer and gives it some more flex but i think you'll get bubbles if you glue straight over the standard cloth. best bet ring a pro for a quick chat, or even the place you buy the vinyl from

dont get the contact adhesive in a can it doesnt last as long or as strong get somthing like quik grip in the tin from bunnings u can brush it on or even better put it in a spray gun its hell easy 2 do, spray both sides wait 4 it 2 go really tacky 2 almost dry. Just make sure u scrape all the old contact adhesive off wen u take the old hood lining off otherwise it wont stick properly. As roger said u have only 1 go at it lol.

Hey RVX if your gona viynl the lining thats all ready in the car the hole will all ready be there, just glue the new cover over the whole thing and when it dries you can just re-cut the viynl with a razor blade. When you are glueing it on i would start with one edge and only do about a foot at a time, if you coat the whole lining with glue and then try to put the vinyl on it will end in disaster. Like wrx said let the glue go tacky then stick the 2 serfices together but don't stuff it up once they touch they wont move!
