Default Back End Bearing - Replace Engine Or Bearings?

I've been told by my mechanic that i have a problem with my big end bearing. Now i have no clue what they are, what they do or how they went wrong...but afaik there screwed.

Will continious drivng of this car cause major problems in the future?

Its a VT S - if looking at replacing the engine, how much would it cost me ? (engine only, then costs for labor)

Otherwise how much for the labor to replace the bearing?

I'm wanting to sell my car soon, as petrol is just fricken annoying, but im seirously not going to get much for it with this current problem!

Any advice would be much appreciated,

    Cheers

    Richard

hey, you can get a vt ecotec for about $450 from ebay. But honestly, im guessing about $600+ for install, but im not 100%

As for the bearing, im guessing you mean Big end, not back end.

What color vt is it? I love the vt s packs lol

Yeah i'm in qld, checked out the post seems he may of sold it...

Would that fit into a VT thou? Plus with my car being an auto how much of a problem would that make it?

Forgive me for being stupid, but is it hard to "swap" engines? lol
