    Default VT 5.0 starting problem

    G'day,
Just thought I would put this out there in case anyone has had the same problem.

I've had this random problem starting where sometimes after the the engine turns over it then conks out. Didn't seem to matter if it was hot or cold.
When it does conk out it is then hard to start (cranking for a long time) but next time after I start after that it works perfect!

Lately seems to be getting worse in mornings - after it turns over revs drop and if I don't get on the gas she will conk out. After being on the gas (just slightly) for say 5-10 secs it's then fine. The car is sluggish when I back out of the driveway but then fine once I get going.

Had the battery, starter motor, etc checked and they're fine.

I'm thinking injectors but thought I would see if anyone else had had the same problem before forking out $$$ for proper cleaning!

    Cheers,
    John

Could be either a leaking injector or the fuel pressure regulator. It does sound like it is fuel related. How long has it been since the filter was changed?

Just a thought, check the base timing, should be 10 deg BTDC.
