Default my vt wont start?????HELP

It started 2 weeks ago my car would start but run really rough. It was like it was missing a beat, like one of the pistons were'nt firing. After 5-10 min it would run fine... if i tried to push the accelerator while driving or in neutral it would cough and splatter and would have no power this was before running it for 5-10 mins... as each day went it got worse and needed to be warmed up longer then it would run perfect.. now it wont start at all, it will kick over but wont run. if i push the accelerator it would cough and you hear thumping through the exaust pipe like its back firing has anyone had a this problem or similar????? just a note it seems to be same when i ran out of petrol once its like its getting no fuel... but that deosnt explane why it ran fine after it warmed up before....... please help........

fuel pressure regulator or injectors maybe? Id say its a fuel issue, if its cured by heat then look for something that gets quiet warm.
Listen to the injector pulses and see if they 'click' at the right times

Check your spark plugs, and get your spark plug leads tested. If they are ok, check your ignition coil pack. It could be on its way out.

ignition module or fuel pump,
check for spark at all plugs,
and a fuel pressure check,
i had both go at the same time..
