Default How can i make it sporty?

    Hey People,
Here is my 98 VT Executive which i've had for 2 months now i think. I got it for 4000 and it's in really good condition. I have just put a sports exhaust on it but what else do you recommend to make this commodore look really nice?

keep in mind as you can see in the pic's I'm a P driver
If u can give me a rough price of how much it'd cost that'd be great

haha cheers mate, will do How much would that cost though u reckon, being 'cheap' and all lol?

What is the name of the colour of my car though. People tend to call it pink...which disturbs me because i really don't think it is pink >.<
    And neither should you!

I was thinking of getting a spoiler...though i think that may really not suit it since it isn't lowered or got mags.

    cheers,

LOL don't do what he said, people who drive around with stockies on the rears of their cars are complete wankers, and the cops will pull you over and bust your ass quicker than you can say "hoon"

Get yourself some 18" or 19" rims, get those on, drop into a suspension place, look at getting her lowered AFTER you have the rims on.

If you want to spend a bit of cash, pick yourself up a bodykit and have it all painted and fitted.

Pretty much. "Sports exhausts" sound lame on V6's anyway with a set of decent extractors. They sound tinny and droney.

As said by DVSV8, rims, and then drop it low. That should keep you happy for a while until the power bug bites

(Hate to be picky lol, but don't use the word "sporty" it sounds like you are talking about a Barina or an Excel lol ). I still can't see how people think a spoiler, or rims etc can make a car look "sporty". There is nothing sports like about car mods. Unless people are talking about motorsport. Whack on some stickers of people playing basketball or cricket and you will have a sporty car

But back on topic, wheels and lower it first off!

Rims, dump it and tint... then a CAI and higher ratio RR... that should wrap under 5G no worries and it's looks nice...

Ohh.... don't put a kit on it... jst get some deep dish rims and dump it... it'll look tuff..

    Good luck...

Go for the full chrome moulds front sides and back..
Paint the lower section that is black, Body colour..
Grab some Calais or i think berlina grills looks best..
Go Series 2 tailights... Or VX Calais.
    Paint the mirrors.

Lower it SSL rear SL front.
VX GTS rims look nice with that colour, Seen one around..

Stuff a DVD-TV into the dash, Amp and sub etc, Tint's be happy with a nice looking sounding car.

Where you getting your prices from? I want in!! Under $5k for a set of decent 20's AND a sound system?! Maybe a **** set of 20's, but a nice set will run you around $3500 no tyres, then add say $600 a piece for the tyres ROUGHLY, spend about $1000 on a basic stereo with 12" single sub, springs are **** all in comparison to the wheels, tyres and stereo, add shocks for SSSL's, as you wouldn't use factory shocks for springs that set your car that low, and tint is **** all in comparison to everything else.

Go with a set of really nice 18's and you could get everything for under $5k. POSSIBLY 19's.

Thanks for all the replies and info!

yeah i was talking to my uncle today who owns a Holden Storm ute and he reckons mags can either 'make or break' the car. He also pointed out that I'd have to get it lowered before putting mags on it coz it'd just look stupid haha.

About the Exhaust, i gotta admit i do like the sound of it. At 1st i was disappointed coz i wanted it pretty loud (i couldn't really hear it much when driving) but now I actually like it because it's got a nice rumble to it and it idles like a V8 (folks got a 99 V8 Statesman).

I saw on eBay an SS body kit...but I'm kinda thinking that it might just look nice being lowered and with mags.

BTW, sorry but what does SSL mean when talking bout lowering a car...

    cheers,
    Joe

I'd say get rims on it before you lower it mate, may look stupid, but you will look stupider if you decide to get big wheels then drop it low and realise the rims / tyres scrub on the guards and struts on your inner guard.

Who cares if you look silly for a week or two. It's all about progress!!

In reguards to SL, SSL, and SSSL, they are the ride height of springs made by KING SPRINGS (brand name, very common and reliable brand too)

    SL = Super low

    SSL = Super super low

SSSL = Super super super low

Super super super low will give you a massive drop in ride height, you will scrape over a fair few speed humps, driveways and potholes, and you might possibly get done by the cops if they want to ream you. But it looks nice. Just remember when you buy the springs, get shocks to suit the ride height you are dropping your car to.

I'd recommend super super low for a nice low ride height that isn't "over the top", but still gives your car a nice stance.

Hahahaha, it's like a sandy brown with a slight pink tinge to it.

    lol coasty, poor fella haha.

Thanks for the details Cobez, cheers mate.
Would u know an average price to get it SSL'ed?
My car was actually scraping our driveway but it was coz the rear springs were sagging, So i got heavy duty springs put in. When i had a load of gear in the back b4 i got the new springs...it looked as if it was SL haha.

my friends pay me out coz they say it's pink...though i pay them out since they don't have a car...nor a P lisence haha.

You can get then for 250 for all for corners depending where you shop...

Oh.... series 2 repeaters and taillights mate... instant improvement...

In regards to SSL as someone mentioned its a spring size KINGS make...

You have come to a cross roads at this point...

    1) Keep it legal

    or

    2) Go all out...

If you keep it legal... then SSL springs and lower are a no no, rims bigger than 19's in the case of the VT are a no no aswell....

If your gonna go SSL or lower you will also have to be committed to driver carefully over speed bumps and into driveways...
