Smile Car going for service!! Advice!

    Hey all,
My car is starting to make a slight whine noise as i accelerate, i notice it mainly when i take off, and i take off bloody slow too, still hear it, it seems to fade out as it changes to 2nd (its an auto) and them sometimes i hear it again from 2nd - 3rd. The car is still driving perfectly smooth still. >>>>>Any idea what this could be?<<<<<
Also, i am getting my car lowered in the next service and its just bout to tick over 130,000 and i have a habit of servicing right on the dot, for my own peice of mind. Ive got all the parts i need, except bushes which i dont know if they need replacing yet, if they do ill just get my mechanic to get them...and the camber kit! Its currently on backorder from GSL RallySport, and i have no idea when its arriving, not GSL's fault. >>>>>Would anyone recommend getting the service before the camber kit arrives and just doing without the camber kit for a couple of weeks?<<<<< Im not sure if i get a wheel alignment with the service, if it'll need another one when i go back to get the camber kit fitted....
Finally, my car is starting to squeel a little when braking, only sometimes, but as i said, i like to service right on the 10,000 and hate little noises coming from the car. I wanted to get new brake pads but dont know what to get, i dont usually brake hard so this might sound strange, but id be more interested in a brake pad that has minimal dust and no noise, rather than a longer expected life. I had the rotors machined at 120,000 but now im getting a shudder again, id be suprised if its the rotors again but i have driven to NSW (im in vic) and back with a heavy trailer so maybe they took too much stress then. >>>>>or any ideas on what else makes steering wheel shudder?<<<<<>>>>>Would you recommend changing the rotors, and brakes anyway, and what do you think is the best combination, for long life rotors and no noise brakes?<<<<
Cost isnt too much of a problem but i would like to stay under $1000 for the whole service, my mechanic is pretty good with prices though.
If you can answer any or all of these questions ur advice would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.....

Can't answer yer questions there Infanti, BUT I recon you would be about the only bloke here on this forum who waits till the 10K mark comes up to do an oil change.

the whine could be your diff or idler pulley, try working out were the sounds cuming from.
did a mates idler pulley the other day was so bad that it sounded like the car was electric running off a battary.

What makes you think that? I do mine every 5k on the dot without fail, never have i done it more then 200 Km's over lol, talk about precision servicing

VT rotors are terrible for shudder, and machining does not fix the problem, just hides it short term. This has been covered before on here (look for a thread called "eliminating brake shudder"). The best fix is brand new quality rotors. I put 4 X DBA Slotted rotors on, and they are fantastic, and have since done just over 5k without the slightest hint of shudder. When the previous rotors were machined they last about 200 km's before it returned.
The brake squel could be dirt/grease on the rotor, but it could be worn pads. Either way Id be replacing all four rotors and pads all round. I use Bendix CT pads and are very happy. Shop around I paid just under 500 bux for 4 X DBA Slotter rotors, and 2 sets of Bendix CT pads.

Hmmm, i dont get pablos response. service is reccommended every 10,000 in the log books, and i drive my car pretty well so as far as im concerned im doing the right thing. I think i should get a pair of slotted rotors for the front, and four new pads. I know gsl rallysport have a special on at the moment on police spec pads so might grab some of them. Thanks for the response tom 1569, i never knew that getting rotors machined was such a short term fix, makes alot more sense now. I spoke to a bloke at work and he suggested that i should just wait for the camber kit to arrive so i dont have to pay extra for the car to go in the shop a second time just for camber kit install and another align.
Will do a thread in 'My Ride' in a few weeks. . .

Just 'peace of mind' Infanti, the fresher the oil, the better. There is a big dealer here who has a large sign hanging in there customer service waiting area, which says the 10k service is only for vehicles that travel in ideal conditions, long distances without cooling down at a steady pace in a clean air enviroment. Multiple starts, short runs of less than half hour, stop/start city traffic etc rapidly reduce the lubricating quality of some oils. Moisture contamination, sludge build up all help to shorten the engine life.
