Default help with vx alarm

Our vx berlina alarm keeps going of at anytime all by itself. We replaced the key with a new one as this was a suggestion but it is still going off. Can anyone help with info as to why or what we can do to stop it until we can get to holden or auto electrician to fix it. Can we disarm the alarm? lock the car and not have the alarm activated? Going crazy with it going off all the time and so are the neighbours!!!

Your car doesnt have a shock sensor so it only leaves battery drainage to be the cause. is the battery starting to go flat, ie is it cranking over slower than usual?

A loss in battery voltage like the interior light, etc will set if off.

Thank you for reply. We replaced the car battery about 4 weeks ago and the alarm problem started just this week. My husband just checked the battery connections and they seem okay. I checked that all the lights in the car were off when the car is off and they are all okay. Do you have any other suggestions or do you know a way to disarm the alarm? We thought we could take the fuse out for the horn until we get it looked at - do you think that might work?

You haven't mentioned if it is the factory alarm or aftermarket. If it is the factory alarm, the horn for the alarm is in the engine bay between the LH shock tower and the firewall, just pull the wire off until you figure it out. If it is the factory alarm check the bonnet and boot switches. If aftermarket alarm a bit more complicated

It is a factory alarm we are fairly sure (as it is set with the holden key) what do you mean about checking the bonnet and boot switches??

he means check the little switches under the boot lip lid and under the bonnet lip as these set the alarm off to prevent access into the boot or bonnet
