Hi all,
Just bought myself a VX Clubsport, 6 speed manual.
Taken a few clubsports for a drive, but they were all autos. Took a manual for a drive, loved the car and brought it.
After taking it home and driving for a few hours, I came to the realisation that changing gears is not easy. The actual process of shifting the gears feels heavy, and getting into 2nd from 1st I have to really pull it in there.
Didn't really notice on the test drive, as I was having too much fun driving my first v8 manual....
Compared to my wife's 4 banger, you can really notice the difference. Changing gears in her car is like spreading melted butter on bread by comparison.
Is shifting in v8s hard to use? Am I just too used to the lazy, sloppy gear changes you get away with in 4s? Should I shut up and just build up the muscle in my left arm?
The car has had its mechanical, and comes with the holden 'as new' car warrant - 3 years 175K warranty. So if it has got issues I can get it fixed. Love the car otherwise. Nothing like driving a v8 to get the blood pumping!!
Should have taken it into consideration when you test drove it! haha but im sure you were too busy salivating over the manual v8 combo! lmao
sounds like a normal t56 to me! first go in my mates SV8 took me 3 goes to get into 2nd! seems quite a rubbery feel. the 4cyl gearboxes are for pussies lol, hence you can shift with 2 fingers.
I'm sure you will get used to it. My v6 has the ye olde t5 manual, and is the notchiest bag of gears you will ever drive! It requires a heavy hand to shift smoothly, very funny to watch my missus drive it haha
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

Its like when i put 235's on my v6 vn 6 years ago and i said to my older mate 'its harder to turn the steering wheel now' his reply was just 'harden up, maybe ill have to show you how to do it' lol..
If its extremely hard though id be looking into finding a resolution
my t56 is a bit heavy, you get used to it tho, sounds pretty normal to me
