ay fellas just a few questions.
1 was looking at a monaro style bonnet for my vx just wondering what u think of the idea?
2 what would the cost be to get that painted? and should i do the nose part silver or same color as the rest of the bonnet? as i will be doing silver mesh
3 was thinking of doing a twin manifold setup? seen them for a grand on mace engineering. so if i fitted this i would just need a tune and thats about it?
4 what sort of power increase would i expect? or faster launch? will it use more fuel cruising around? is it illegal?
5 i have a 70mm on now and if i do go twin should i get the other 70? or leave both as standard?
thanxs for the input guys![]()
Stupid. Hate the things on Monaros/GTO's let alone anything else. They should be left to die on XC Falcons where they belong.
Tune + other mods. What else has been done to the motor?2 what would the cost be to get that painted? and should i do the nose part silver or same color as the rest of the bonnet? as i will be doing silver mesh

Illegal? Yep - the moment you modify the tune it will not pass the emissions (in Vic at least). As for power increases - pffst..... how long is a piece of string?4 what sort of power increase would i expect? or faster launch? will it use more fuel cruising around? is it illegal?
Talk to your tuning guy/engine builder. It really depends on what you have done to the car and what you plan to do with it - circuit? drag? be able to brag you youve TTB down at the local maccas on a Friday night???5 i have a 70mm on now and if i do go twin should i get the other 70? or leave both as standard?

1.9.1. rockers
70mm maf
70mm throttle body
10mm leads
spitfire plugs.
just my weekender so no tracks or that just need abit more kw
i just want 10kw more and im happy with that so i was thinking i might get 5-6 out of the manifold? and a better take off.
i recently fitted twins to my ecotec, it had better take off as the butterflies had the effect of opening more and quicker as well as the air being shared between the runners more efficiently.
Id say the engine did make a little more power, because i also managed to kill my engine. It sounds like iv broked a valve bring or sheared a valve on the passenger side. Im not sure if its related, but it might be
Personally i like the monaro style bonnets and i have thought about getting one.The only problem is do you ebay one or chase one up elsewhere. Also the ones on ebay are either fibreglass (think they are illegal) or there are some metal ones on there but i dont know what they are like? Does anyone else know where the best place to buy one would be at the right price? I think they would look good on your car.
this is the one i was thinking about and its in adealaide so i dont pay deliver, good price u think?

Carbon-fibre bonnet legalities anyone? - Australian LS1 and Holden Forums
fibreglass monaro bonnets
I dont know if there are any out there that conform to ADR but im guessing that some on ebay might not.Anyway check it out.I really dont know what the laws are but these people say they are illegal because if you have an accident they splinter and the carbon fibre ones wont bend in an accident unlike the original metal ones.

I'm not a big fan of the Monaro bonnet but each to their own . Lets just hope they don't go the same way as the HQ Statesman nose cone did in the 70's and 80's. These things were nick names "Assholes " cos everyone had one .
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
Problem with a glass bonnet is that if you are unlucky enough to smash the thing doesn't have crumple zones and can chop into the A pillars and then some. Holmart do a genuine crumpler for around $1200.
