The power window motor in the right rear door looks like it's seen better days. Get a click out of it if I press the button up or down but no movement.
Could anyone tell me how to get the window back up again until I get it replaced?
Well I got the window up but at the expense of dismantling/destroying the electric motor so my next question is, how do I replace the motor assembly? There are no visible screws on the outside.
You need to remove the door trim and then drill out the rivets that hold the regulator in place.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
fOR FUTURE REFERENCE IF YOU CAN GET A CLICK OUT OF IT THEN THE MOTOR STILL WORKS It needed lube, and to work the lube into the mech.
Dont destry something that is just gummed up. Is was savable.
I had the exact same problem, and it was a combination of two things, burnt terminals in back switches, and dry cables and runners within window mech..
Sorry that you wrecked this one but try lube and clean terminals in rear switches, front to if old switch
Yeah I thought it may have been something simple like that but I needed to get the window up!
It's fair enough to say the mechanism needed some lube, which I think it needed as it was binding when I manually wound it up but not being able to see how the whole thing works and no screws to dismantle made options at that time of night very few.
in my vt i cant move the drivers side window the button click but motor doesnt works i tried connecting the motor direct from the battery (after disconnecting the cable from the battery ) the motor is working ffine and when i move the button i hear a click but motor dosent work even fuse & relay is ok
thanx dud (accentstencil) i'll check
Have you got the Holden Commodore Workshop manual? It should show you how to fix it. I had a problem were the windows was scraping every time I opened it. It ended up being a tiny piece of $2.50 plastic and 30 minutes of my time. Better then paying a mechanic $150.
All I'm saying is that it might just be a small problem.
You can get the manual from ebay for about $15 last time I checked.
With the rear electric windows on a VT they work with wires and not the arc gear the the front doors use.
The back doors basiccally have a motor that has a wheel on the out put, on the wheel are grooves in which the control wires are rapped around. Now simliar to a bow firestick technique the window can be drawn up or down by turning the motor, the problem comes with the amount of Dust and greasy grit that accum. over time on the wire and with the mechanism. If you pull on the side of the motor that the wire is taunt while trying to operate the switch, you may be able to move through the grit and get it started.
This worked for me, started with a tiny bit of movement then slowly freed up completely
Most times you will find that if you lube the wire like a bike chain, apply the oil to fingers and rub the wires that you can get to with liberal amounts of lube, and then operate the window up or down you will find that the window will become smoother through operation, working the lube in. I use a Gun Oil Lube, easiest to handle and it sticks.
The second part of the problem is black/burnt terminals in the override switch in the back, and/or front. Try squirting metholated spirits from a syringe into the working mech, of the switch, you will find it helps to solvant the burnt deposits, switch will operate better.
If you can get the switch to work sometimes or when flickered quickly, chances are burnt terminals. Metho will help clean this off and then evaporate out. Do not use switch or put back into line for at least 24hrs after inserting metho, or certain that component is dry.
my right hand side rear window is stuck down can anyone help to put it back up untill i can fix it or help me work out the problem
Get someone to hold up on the window switch, Push down on the window and then pull up on it, My vt got jammed and that worked
