What should I do to my grill?

The black paint coating on my vx berlina's front grill has started to crack, and there are a few chips forming. Its not bad, but its an easy fix and I have the time on my hands to do it over the next few days.

The most obvious solution would be to strip the paint, prime it and then re paint it, but I know that the grill is silver under the black paint and a chrome grill could look awesome (along with chrome door handles, wheel nuts and a few other things)

Maybe try prep it, and see how ya go, if ya dont like it, buy the one off ebay, either way good luck with it
