Next Mod for VT
hey guys, I have a vt s1 ecotec with pacemaker headers, twin s/steel hi flow cats, 2.5 s/steel zhorst, k/n panel filter. got 121rwkw on dyno, looking for my next mod, was thinking about FITs 1:97:1 rockers or maybe a ss inductions cai. anyones opinion and what you have done to yours would be great. cheers john
Forget SS inductions, not worth the money, just do the DIY CAI thats on this forum in the vt-vx section, and buy a K&N panel filter. Prob would cost you $120 max all up (filter, piping etc). Id go Yella Terra 1.95:1 rockers. FIT are re worked standard rockers whereas Yella Terra are a completely new and much stronger set. Just installed a set on my vx and you can definately tell the difference

Yella terra RR are probably also cheaper.
Memcal tune with RR's, Might ad 20-30fwkw all up.

no i havent installed a performance chip or memcal, 121rwkw was just with k/n panel filter and exhaust, extractors. was 101rwkw before those mods. i was looking on ebay at a memcal from a blackstar guy who reckons you can get guaranteed gains of 12/20rwkw by adding his memcal, but i heard other people say hes dodgy.

I have spoke to him, And to me he is honest, I was ready to buy a memcal for the VP, But he talked me out of it at the time. So that was pretty honest with me.
try these bit cheaper than yella terras you get pushrods aswell and more lift than other rockers.

Mace, Spoke a few times with them also, They seem ok. Was wondering if anyone has tried them yet?.
yeah i talked to guy at mace, seemed pretty helpful and the rr's they got can go on standard engine. only thing im worried about is i wanna put a nice vortech supercharger kit on it from capa in the future! so any thoughts on this would be great... thanks
great blokes at mace i have got a few things done from them and they have been great, and pretty cheap also
the RR wont affect the charger at all, i have a vx v6 also, might i suggest u do the high flow maf/afm and and a larger throttle body. mace sell these and i have them on my car and the throttle respone is unreal, havent had it on a dyno since done but it is one of my best mods i rekon

You should have seen me changing the spark plug leads.. That silly cover that goes under so many things that surrounds the leads, That has got to be the worst pain the the arse i have come across. Had to leave mine off the leads were to thick.
Biggest thing for me is not having the right tools, Got to get myself some good tools.

cheers rvx, i have ordered a 69mm throttle body off mace now, they say you have to get engine tuned if you replace the air flow meter, what did you do?
sorry i meant the computer be reprogrammed not engine tune! they have two afm's a 85mm and 74mm
i went 74 mm man and i did get the car tuned u will notice a heel of alot of difference when its tuned m8, best thing is save up and do all the mods u want then tune it, or be like me and but them at different times and waste money on tunes lol. should be able to get a cheap tune though 150-300 depends on ur state m8
yeah dont no bout it in sa, rvx i seen an e6gmx haltech like yours on ebay, how do they go? could i get the tune from a holden workshop or have to go to a performance shop? bit of a pain in sa as there arent too many around!
the only reason i got my haltech was coz i was gonna charge it,i dont belive it has made that much of a difference as my engine is stock. a normal tune [chip] with ur mods will be fine m8 and heaps cheaper, alot of places in sa do tunes.
myself i would never go to holden to have work done i believe they are butchers.
