Hi all.
I was wondering if someone could give me some light on the situation here.
Recently I was driving along the highway at 100, I put my foot down to overtake as the speed was 110.
Anyways all I could hear was what sounded like a turbo releasing its blow off valves.
When I got home I checked the car and found that I'd blown one of the hoses on the transmission cooling line.
The next day I came out again to check for oil and noticed a leak comming from the bell housing (possibly front seal).
Could someone please give me an idea on what it would cost to give the transmission an overhaul.
"Change oil & flush, change all seals, change filter ect..."
It is a 4spd Auto in a VT.
Thanks in advance![]()
also a rough cost for labour too please![]()
Probably not quite what Ozzie was after.
Not sure how much in labour but I just enquired about a VT transmission service kit - $22 at Bursons (filter, gasket, not sure what else) and 5L new fluid - $30-$35. There's plenty of guides for servicing the tranny around if you're game. I plan to do it on the wife's VT over the weekend.
Update: I decided to do my VS first. All went well, except I didn't replace the filter seal as I didn't have enough room under the car to go stuffing around trying to get it out. No visual signs of wear on the old one though.
Thanks for that vs_
Ive got a leak in one of my transmission cooling lines (hose thats connected to the radiator and maybe a front seal)
I figured when I go to get it looked at I'll get them to service it while their at it. The oil in the transmission at the moment is brown and smells dirty due to never being serviced in its 10 years of life... I was just wondering if it would be much extra for them to service it whilst they repair it?
$90 to $120 is about the norm for servicing. Given that you haven't done it for ages you might want to ask them to fluch the convertor out too or just get another service a month down the track.
nah id say itl need a flush...
Ive been quoted a second hand box for $250.00
I was leaning toward buying a second box and having it reco'd
Or if cheaper... buying a reco box
still need it flushed though
Front seal is not included in a service, sounds like you need an overhaul or at least remove the box to check/replace front seal
i have a similar problem with a leak my transmission oil is spilling on the botton tray a bit and is missing anyone got any ideas how to fix this problen or what to look for to show my mec
